The new Fiona Stanley Hospital

Today I got to go on a tour of the brand new Fiona Stanley Hospital that is due to partly open later in the year. An amazing hospital which will make it a lot easier on those SOR if they need to head to emergency or use any of the other facilities available.

The tours are running today (19th March), tomorrow 20th and Sunday 23rd March from 10am-2pm. They are approximately 1km in length and take about 45 minutes. Pram and wheelchair friendly.

I thought I would start with a few of the areas that might interest parents then a few other interesting features.

The picture above is the Emergency Department. There is an adults emergency area and a children's.
This is the mental health unit. It is designed for short stays only but they have 8 beds available for mothers & babies to come stay for example those suffering from post natal depression.
This is the paediatric area. They have a playground to be used by kids and their families staying in the hospital.
So many green areas between and on top of buildings. The statues in this area were designed by kids and are made to be played on.
One of the hospital rooms. Almost all of the hospital is single rooms not shared. You can skype on the TVs, movies, gaming and you get your own number so family and friends can ring you directly. The rooms have gorgeous city views or hill views.
You might be wondering what this is. It's called the bariatric room for larger patients. It can hold up to 400kgs and takes them from the bed into the bathroom.
 One of the ensuites.
It is hard to explain this machine. It runs on sensors and does a lot of work that would usually take staff away from the wards. It's a cart that carries things between floors like the meals for the day from the kitchen to the ward or taking linen between the laundry and ward.
 The food warmer/cooler.

The drop off/pick up area for dialysis.
I love how the signs point to all the various parks around the hospital. This building behind it is the Rehabilitation centre. The Shenton Park campus will transfer here. It has 140 beds and surrounded by gardens plus a cafe that patients can be wheeled down in their beds to so they can spend time with their families.
So many interesting pieces of art work around the hospital by local artists.
There is a helipad on top of the hospital.

The whole hospital is huge. It is about the size of 4 city blocks in total!

There is parking all the way around the hospital including multiple level undercover. Parking will be at a fee which they haven't released yet.

For those interested in working there they are currently building a child care centre on site too.

The hospital is very easy to get to. It only took 30 minutes from Morley! I got off at South Street on the Kwinana Freeway then turned onto Murdoch Drive and it is right near the Murdoch station along the train line.

Vic Park Farmers Market

The newest farmers market for Perth has popped up in Victoria Park. Located opposite the Park Centre at John Mcmillan Park there is heaps of room to spread out and make a morning of it!
Loved these apples! $3 per kilo and lots of small lunchbox sized ones.
There are 3 fruit & veg stalls including one organic one.
There was only one stall I saw with non food items. Cute handmade bibs and clothing.
So many choices for yummy food! Do not eat before this market! Bacon & Egg rolls if you get there early and plenty of choices for brunch or an early lunch including mexican, sweets, turkish, potato waffles, paella and more.
 Juices, so many combo choices!
 Raw food.
I think this little one liked the look of the macarons!
I know my little ones would love the Perfect Poffertjes.
I stopped past the bagel shop and got 6 rye bagels for $7! The more fancy varieties cost a little more and you can also get them to put a spread on them.
YAY! Jumplings! I'm a Jumplings fan so was very glad to see them here and that I didn't have my kids with me so I could add chilli! They had duck or chicken dumplings today but I have seen them do vegetarian and also crab. $10 for a bowl of noodles and 4 dumplings.

There was also a bakery, 2 butchers, dairy, a cheese stall (I could spend so much there!), fresh pasta, flowers, dog treats and a dog wash and of course coffee!

The markets are held every Sunday from 8-11am. Plenty of parking available.

My advice is go early! Most of the fresh pasta was sold out, bread was low, some of the bagels sold out and the last of a few fruits by the time I got there at 10.30. Pack a picnic rug and frisbee or ball, grab a bacon and egg roll and relax on the grassed area before doing some shopping and heading home. If you are local, walk down with your dog and they can have a bath too.

Some stalls are weekly and others fortnightly so keep an eye on their Facebook page for what stalls will be there each week.

Great work by the Victoria Park Primary P&C! I hope it continues to grow in popularity.

You've probably driven past this spot hundreds of times! As you come off the causeway onto Riverside Drive in the city there is a big car park next to some hidden treasures!

Point Fraser is a great spot to come if you have older ones especially those into bike riding.

City views

If you go towards the causeway end of Point Fraser you find the wetlands area.

Once you come out of the wetlands you find About Bike Hire.

There was a birthday happening when I walked past. The kids looked about 12-14 and they were doing kayaking on the river. Kayak hire is $16 per hour.

There are a huge range of bikes you can hire. I love the Family Quadcycle which has pedals for 2 plus a baby seat on the front and shade over the top. They are $27 to hire for an hour.

You can also hire regular bikes with a childs seat on and also trailers for kids to ride in.

Find all the prices HERE.

Point Fraser is the perfect spot to start exploring the river between the bridges in the city. Plenty of car parks (paid), toilets, art work, grass for picnics and shade.

Clancy's Fish Pub Cafe City Beach and playground

A gorgeous Autumn day today so thought I would drive the beach way back home from my parents place in North Fremantle. We went past Clancy's when doing the sandcastle competition at City Beach a few weekends ago and loved that the playground was right next to it so thought I would try their lunch menu.
Very relaxed dining style with picnic bench type tables and a bar seating area around the edges.

It is counter service in the cafe area so take note of your table number!
Place your orders at the counter.
My latte arrived very quickly. It went down well and I was contemplating if I should get a takeaway one too for while we played.
There is a kids menu but my daughter wanted a sandwich. We went with a ham, cheese and tomato turkish toastie ($12). She ate the whole thing! It took a while for the tomato to cool down so luckily it came out a few minutes before my meal.
I went with the sliders ($18). Tiny well cooked bites of steak topped with mustard, relish, onion jam and lettuce, they were delicious!
The view from the bar seating area to the playground.

The playground in front of Clancy's is simple but great! Lots of shade, slides, monkey bars, balancing and (my daughters favourite) a shop. I love that it is softfall instead of sand. It is right next to the carpark and not fenced though. Good way to work off lunch a bit and there is also another playground at the other end of the carpark.
playground views
They have both a kids menu for breakfast and lunch.
Breakfast has a choice of egg soldiers ($7), ham & cheese toastie ($8) or pancakes ($9).
Lunch is all $10 with a choice of Fish & Chips, Shepherds Pie or Penne Pasta with Napolitana sauce.

Service was a bit hit and miss. They were often walking around wondering which table food and drinks were going to but they were all very friendly and helpful.

Prices are a bit on the higher side but you are obviously paying for the view and plenty of people are appreciating it with how busy it is on the weekends! I'd like to come back and try it for breakfast which starts from 7am.

NonnaVoce - bedtime recording

$

I'm sure most of us have those 'if only...' moments. I had one of those recently when I found out about NonnaVoce. My son had recently erased the answering machine messages that had my late Nanna's messages on them. I loved the sound of her voice and I know my children will have already forgotten what she sounded like, if only I had NonnaVoce to record her while she was still here.

NonnaVoce is here to record your loved ones reading stories or singing lullabies to your children for them to listen to before bed or, like mine, when in the car. Perfect for those that have FIFO partners that can still be a part of the bedtime routine while they are gone or grandparents that don't live nearby so their voice stays familiar with little ones.

I love how simple it was to do. I just asked my parents what would be the best time for to do it and NonnaVoce arranged to be at their house to record them. The NonnaVoce Facebook page has plenty of ideas for stories to read so I went through our collection at home and found a stack of books to drop off to be recorded. Within a few weeks it was all ready to go and they dropped it off at my house.
It comes in a beautiful presentation case.

A photo included on the inside of the case of those that did the recording.

The CD hasn't left the CD player in my car as my 3 year old always asks to listen to Nanny & Poppy! We even know the spots where they laugh and Old MacDonald had a farm is now always Old Nanny & Poppy had a farm.

The quality is amazing! You would think it was recorded in a studio as there is no background noise, no umming and ahhing and it all runs smoothly.

The basic package starts at $329 which includes the recording at your home, editing, the presentation case edition plus 2 additional CD copies. They cover all of the Perth metro area for recording at home.

NonnaVoce is Western Australian owned and operated, they are also a member of the Oral History Association of Australia (WA).

If you have more questions you can contact NonnaVoce at info@nonnavoce.com

Thank you NonnaVoce, this is something we will cherish forever.

Taylor's Art and Coffee House - Swan Valley

It was my birthday Saturday so we decided on hitting the Swan Valley for lunch. I wanted to go somewhere kid friendly than I hadn't been before so after flicking through the Entertainment Book I decided on Taylor's. We tried to call to see if they could fit us in but they weren't answering the phone. When we got there we saw why, it was pretty packed! Luckily there were a few outside tables available which was perfect for us as we could sit near the sandpit (pictured above).
The outside area is pretty casual, miss matched chairs and tables in amongst artwork and old machinery.

You order at the counter and we soon had our drinks arrive.
Kids smoothies are $3 each, we went with the mixed berry and they were delicious! Just the right size for my little ones and love the stainless steel cups.
My husband had Mango Madness
I had pink Lemonade, no bottled fizzy stuff here!

For lunch I went with the Free-range Ham Panini ($16). Ham with chilli jam, double brie and roquette in a woodfired panini it hit the spot. Love the chilli jam!
The chips ($8) came out roasting hot and crunchy! Lucky the kids were playing in the sandpit so didn't notice for a few minutes while they cooled down.

My husband went with the Taylor Burger ($22). A big beef patty, cheese, balsamic onions, tomato relish and aioli on top of toasted turkish bread with a salad and chips it tasted amazing! I had food envy.
Taylors is located along Great Northern Highway right next to Whistlers Chocolate. Service was quick and friendly despite how busy it was. Highchairs available.

There is a kids breakfast and lunch menu plus a specials board that changes daily.

Kids breakfast includes pancakes for $10 or bacon & eggs $9. Lunch has a burger $13, penne pasta $13 & panini $10.

Taylors tries to use local produce as much as possible and a lot of it from their own garden, you can tell in the taste.

A great spot to stop with the family on a day out in the valley, we will be back!

Open Wednesday-Sunday 7.30am-4pm, closed Monday, Tuesday and public holidays.

Kyilla Community Farmers Market - North Perth

My first stop at every Farmers Market seems to be the coffee stall. Without my usual one to start my day at home I went with a large ($4.50) and it was good! A little bit of a wait but they are in between the juice and the bagels so I got both then my coffee was ready. Thanks Top Dup it was just what I needed!

Now I've had my caffeine I can tell you about Kyilla Farmers Market.

Located in North Perth at Kyilla park and run by Kyilla P&C it's a great little local market. A great combination of stalls plus an excellent location being central to the city and with heaps of playground equipment to keep the kids busy. They run every Saturday from 8am-11.30am.
My girls decided on some Pink Power from Juicy Chai Wallahs to start their day. A combination of watermelon, strawberry and lemon for $6.50.

Next to the juice stand PaiTumaca had their great big pans of paella and catalan eggs cooking away. Started wishing I hadn't had breakfast before coming.

I LOVE Holy Bagel Company bagels! So good it's hard to choose which one to get though a lot of the flavours sell out early which narrows down the decision.
I went with the 6 bagels for $7 and got one of each! They smell so good.
Of course there is plenty of fruit & veg to choose from. With school starting back this week I grabbed some apples and pears and they were nice enough to give each of the girls a banana! Everything looks so good, next time I am grabbing some cherry tomatoes and baby aubergines.

Seafood van.

Organic bread.

Those jam donuts were calling me, another reason not to have breakfast before coming!

The above picture and the three below are all from Cherry Bombe Catering. Oh Em Gee it all looked so delicious! This is a BIG reason not to eat before coming! Tarts, pies, flans, slices, loaves. Just try and walk past!

Le Grand Fromage has a stall here with their cheeses. Every type of cheese you can imagine!
Sunnydale Dairy also has a stall with a range of flavoured milks, plain milk, amazing looking yoghurts and it all comes from Guernsey cows. You can see the layer of cream on the top of the milks that makes you want to lick the lid.

Other stalls to check out include the P&C bacon and egg stall which were cranking out the best looking B&E rolls I've seen at a market, plant stall, community stall, Turkish Tucker, The Cocoa Patch, Perfect Poffertjes and more.

There is a great amount of play equipment located around the park for all ages.

A great local market. Grab a coffee, have a play, do some shopping and take home some lunch. I'll be back (and not having breakfast before!).

Cheeky Cafe - Scarborough

Kids play area - check, beachside suburb - check, yummy breakfasts - check, laundromat.....- check!

Located at 160 Scarborough Beach Road Cheeky Cafe is half cafe, half laundromat.

One of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. Not sure if it was made better by the kids happily playing but I think it enhanced the flavour.
My little 2 headed straight to the play area and I was glad the table right next to it was free. Snow White was playing on the screen, there is a drawing table, a train table, a box of toys and a box of books plus some cushions to sit on. It has a little fence and gate but the kids can open and close the gate themselves.

The menu has limited options but I still had a hard time choosing.

Other menu items are on the wall.
My latte ($4) and our coconut/walnut muffin ($4.50) arrived as soon as I sat down after ordering! Much needed coffee as I didn't have time before school drop and it was good! The muffin was delicious, I love the crunchy top and it smelt amazing! My son soon had crumbs all around him.
Frozen Mango Frappe ($6.50) was a hit with the kids but so big I had to help them drink it or we would still be there now.
The cafe feels cosy with lots of wood, sunlight coming in through the big windows and you can see your food being made in the open kitchen.
My big breakfast! The Veggie Stack ($17) has perfectly poached eggs, mushroom, tomatoes, avocado, rocket and lemon aioli all on top of a crunchy piece of toast. Everything was perfect cooked and very filling.
cutting into the poached eggs

There is also seating outside but it was a bit chilly this morning.
A tiny bit of ocean view!

There is a bit of a wait for breakfasts but it is worth it for the quality. Friendly service. High chairs available. Free wifi. Opens at 6am daily.

I'll be back again soon! Might suggest it for Mother's Day...

Decadent C's - Mandurah

After asking my likers a great family friendly place around Mandurah to stop in someone gave the suggestions of Decadent C's so we dropped in on our way back from Preston Beach.
As you walk in you are surrounded by chocolate and then the cake display. I can now see the Decadent part!
They have mud cake, white mud cake, bee hive mud cake.... if you can get past the scrumptious looking mud cakes there is other choices like carrot cake which we went with.
Through the back doors is the little playground. There are a few cosy coupe cars too!
If the kids have lots of energy to burn there is plenty of grass to run around and it is fully fenced.
All the tables outside were taken so we headed indoors though you can still see outside into the play area.
It was early when we arrived so we just went with carrot cake and coffees. My latte was good.
And the kids loved their babycinos especially the chocolate on the side!

I will be sure to drop back the next time we drive through to try the food. The Childrens Value Pack including a mini beef & veggie roll, a mini ham & cheese quiche, a cupcake of their choosing, Berri fruit juice, 1 chocolate marshmallow and 1 coconut rough for $12.70.

Service was quick despite how busy it was. Highchairs available. Toilets with change facilities. Room for prams in outside seating.

If you are heading through Abingdon Miniature Village is across the road and Spud Shed is also close by.

Closed Wednesdays.

Sunday 4th May 2014
9am-4pm
THE town of Toodyay will step back in time to celebrate the annual Moondyne Festival, bringing the infamous Avon Valley bushranger Moondyne Joe and his escapades to life.
Street theatre will have Joe and his gang wreaking havoc throughout the town.
Joe may be found flaunting with the floozies, defying the tedious temperance ladies whilst trying to evade the local constabulary, intent on locking him up and throwing away the key.
The festival celebrates Toodyay's colonial past and the town is transformed into a lively festival of community fun and entertainment.
Locals dress in 19th century costume for a colourful procession down the main street, headed by the musket-firing rifle and artillery regiment 1860 with the boisterous entourage of colonial floozies yelling "Let Joe go!"
Attractions include a variety of stalls, displays, performances and demonstrations.
Arts Toodyay present their regular art exhibition in the CWA Hall, while the Irish and Highland Dancers and Toodyay Community Singers provide entertainment along the main street.
There will be vintage cars and bicycles on display and visitors can experience how to send and receive Morse code telegrams with the Morscecodians Society, investigate with the Sherlock Holmes Society of WA, admire the displays of the Hand Tool Preservation Society of WA and Trachmach (restored farm machinery as well as bygone household items).
Visiting the antique and collectors fair is also a must.
The festival flows through the main town site to the beautiful Duidgee Park resting on the banks of the Avon River which will be filled with specialty craft and tantalizing food stalls.
Festivities include the log chop, stilt walkers, Clydsedale cart rides, shearing, blacksmithing, cleavage and moustache competitions, woodturning, Kalamunda Pipe Band and the ever popular Swaggie Camp.
Enjoy bush poetry and Moondyne Joe laments in the courtyard of the Newcastle Gaol throughout the day.
Families will also be delighted joining in the circus school children's games in the park and perhaps have a ride on the Toodyay Miniature Railway, Lil Louie and the Toodyay Lions "Wiggly Worm".
There will be cool BMX bike demonstrations and workshops, face painting, balloon twisting and the delightful baby animal petting zoo.
While at the festival don't forget to check out the Old Newcastle Gaol Museum - the gaol that Moondyne Joe did not escape from.
That happened from the convict depot located nearby.
But don't worry, there is a fantastic display on the real story of Moondyne Joe along with lots of other displays, including the award winning interpretation of the timber lined cell.
A team of Clydesdale horses will be bringing people up to the gaol on the back of a wagon throughout the day from Duidgee Park at the end of the main street.
Bush poet Bill Gordon will be popping in and the kids can dress up as convicts or settlers - heaps of opportunities for great photos.
Join in the fun at this wonderful festival for the whole family of all ages and interests.

Bassendean Goes Arty with ‘Open’!
In what is a first for the Town of Bassendean ‘Open’ will showcase our creative townsfolk and
celebrate art in all its forms. ‘Open’ is a day of open studios, creative workshops, exhibitions and a
pop up design market. It’s all happening on Sunday 04 May, from 10am to 3pm, in various locations
throughout the suburbs of Bassendean, Ashfield, and Eden Hill.
So far more than 50 local artists have registered their involvement in ‘Open’, including members of
the Bassendean Arts Community and the Fibrant Textile collective who will host an Open Day at 1
Surrey Street.
In addition, local residents will be throwing open their doors to their own studios and gardens
including Paul Caporn, Nami Osaki, Lucy Brommell and Martin Jaine.
A handful of creative workshops have been coordinated where participants can learn new skills
including knitting, crocheting, upcycling, paper craft, shibori dye techniques and instagramming.
Many of the workshops will result in art installations including a flower garden and yarn bombing of
street furniture.
The art students from Cyril Jackson Senior Campus are working on an ephemeral ‘public’ art
exhibition which will be installed along Old Perth Road in the lead-up to the day.
Local businesses Tomorrow’s Memories, Tall Style, To The Woods and Daisy & Rowe are also getting
involved with artists in residence, demonstrations, displays, activities, workshops and exhibitions.
A grouped exhibition entitled the ‘Eastern Bloc’ will feature artists from the eastern and hills regions.
Selected works from the Town’s Art Collection, many of which are not normally seen by the general
public, will be exhibited.
Local makers & designers will be setting up shop at a Pop Up Design Market, just in time for buying
the perfect Mothers Day gift. There will be jewellery, clothing, handbags, photography, prints,
garden art and graphic design, not to mention coffee and cupcakes too!
We are encouraging visitors to be art tourists – to walk, cycle or drive to the various locations on the
day.

Cicerellos & Simmos Icecream - Mandurah

After stopping in at the Quarry Adventure Playground we were hungry! After remembering my Kids Eat Free blog that Tuesday Cicerellos kids get a free meal with each adult meal we decided to stop in there.

Luckily the table right next to the fish tank was available so the kids were soon finding Nemo!

I went with the squid and chips ($15.80) as my kids LOVE squid rings so I knew they would help me eat them. They were a bit greasy for my liking but the squid wasn't chewy at all and it was nice having a bit of salad on my plate. The kids enjoyed them.
Kids menu items are usually $6.80 so it was great getting this free! Small bite size pieces of fish and plenty of chips when added to the heap on my plate.

It wasn't amongst the best fish & chips I've had in Perth but for my meal, my husbands fish & chips plus 2 free kids meals it only ended up $28.40 which is pretty good value for 6 people!

To redeem the kids eat free meal just mention it before ordering on a Tuesday at either Mandurah or Fremantle Cicerello stores.
After having a walk around the boardwalk we headed into Simmo's icecream. They have a crazy amount of flavours that we had a hard time choosing! Having 6 of us getting a cone each adds up so we went with a waffle to share.
Gorgeous views out over the water from the inside tables.
Each of the girls chose a flavour each so we ended up with strawberry, burnt caramel with salty caramel swirl and cookies. An interesting combination! It was so good I would've gladly kept it all to myself! Burnt caramel was my favourite of the three. Perfect for a sunny Autumn day looking out over the water.

We headed along to the playground on the foreshore to burn off some of the sugar before hopping back in the car.

Playgrounds in the Mandurah area

On our recent trip down south we stopped in at Mandurah on the way down and the way back at a range of different parks. Everything from the fenced playground, to the mega adventure playground to the tourist spot and the art playground.

Here they are:

Quarry Adventure Park - Meadow Springs.
Located on Pebble Beach Boulevard eastern side you can't miss this mega playground!
You can see where it gets the quarry name from as it was a quarry before being transformed into 4 hectares of open space and play equipment.
 MASSIVE slide!
 Climb your way back up

 Never ending climbing options!
Plenty of BBQs and picnic seating located all around the park.
Toilets are located up the top.

 Mandurah Foreshore Playground

Along Mandurah Terrace overlooking Manjar Bay is this long playground. It is only fenced on the street side, all softfall and shadesails above. Toilets and BBQs nearby.
Your normal playground equipment found here of slides, swings, monkey bars, spring rockers etc.

My son always loves anything with a steering wheel!

Caterpillar Playground. Corner Milgar Street and Park Road Mandurah.

Great park for toddlers! Fully fenced, small equipment.
No steps up to the slides.
Lots of natural shade & open spaces.
There are still things for the bigger kids including this huge flying fox, the BMX track is next to the playground and there is a half basketball court.
Lots of climbing to be done without getting too high.
Toilets are just outside the fenced area.

Mandurah Junction Open Space.

This playground is located just behind the Mandurah Train Station. Palmer Way borders it on one side. The only problem with this one is no toilets. There are BBQs.
Climb the giant watering can and look out over the whole park.
 Climb through or over pots.
 Plenty of seating!
 Giant pencils
 Race on a log.
Pack your pingpong ball and paddles!
I love this table and chairs, I can just imagine an Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatters Tea Party.
More interesting seating.

They have just announced on their Facebook page this afternoon that a community garden will also be going into the park!

Any other great parks in the Mandurah area I missed? Let me know.

Red Man Cucina - Bedford

You won't find any highchairs here or big displays of food, just simple, quality, cheap eats.

Red Man Cucina is located along Walter Road West and the perfect stop if you are heading into town or one of the nearby parks. You can pull up, order at the window and take your coffee and food away with you or if you want to dine in, park at the back and hope the couch is free.
I only live 5 minutes away but this is the first time I've managed to fit in a visit. The owners were lovely and explained what was on offer today including home made pies and spinach, sundried tomato and ricotta rolls but I went with the simple bacon and egg sandwich ($5) and an iced coffee ($5).

You won't find anything over $10 here! Pasta $10, salads $10, rolls all $8 and soup with a crusty roll for $8. The most expensive item on their breakfast list is $8 for a double egg, double bacon, cheese, tomato and rocket roll. Coffees range from $3-$5.
Most people pull up and go to the window but if you venture inside it is full of fun memorabilia like an old wooden pinball machine, the candy games plus some board games and dominoes on the tables.

One thing to note is it is CASH ONLY!

I think I will drive that way to Yokine reserve from now on!

Subi Farmers Market

Subi Farmers Market has been around for quite some time now and still hugely popular!

Some suggestions:
Go early! Parking around the area gets pretty crazy later in the morning.
Don't take your pram! The bottom area is packed with people and very hard to navigate the pram through.
Wear stretchy pants, so much to eat!!!

I've kept the pictures in order of how we went.

I'll have that one Mummy!

Baked 180 had delish cupcakes! We went with a six pack of the mini ones which were the perfect size for the kids (and I). I had apple crumble which had a yummy crumble on top and stewed apple in the middle. So good!
There is a large plant stall at the top which is reasonably priced. They have herbs, veggie seedlings, native plants and more.
There was a group playing the ukulele entertaining those stopping to eat and coming in.
The side area has lots of funky lite stalls.
You get a choice of bakers. Look around before you buy as each stall you see some bread you need to buy!
The Spice Library

Amazing croissants from Temptations Boulangerie et Patisserie

Cronuts from Temptations Boulangerie et Patisserie

Froggy food salted butter caramel - AH-MAZING!

"and when we got there, the cupboards were bare"

Another reason to get in early as your choice is limited later in the morning!

The fruit & veg stall was huge with a great selection of what is in season at the moment.
Try and get a pram through here!

Crumpets!
To end the morning I went past Mr Drummond and got some crumpets. The passionfruit curd was delicious and so hard to let the crumpet cool down before eating it!

They have games for the kids to play and also had sand art but they are not free.

My plan of attack for the next visit would be coffee and crumpets followed by bread shopping then browsing, fruit & veg and some cupcakes for the road!

Subi Farmer's Market runs every Saturday from 8am to noon at Subiaco Primary school on Bagot Road.

To celebrate my 2nd daughters 5th birthday the next day we just had a one on one day where I took her to lunch and Timezone. I have been wanting to try Chinta so this was the perfect opportunity. We parked out the back and walked through to the cafe section.

Our table card

Funky Monkey - chocolate, banana, peanut butter and more!

This drink was pretty full on with the peanut butter flavour! It is a meal in itself as it was so filling! A lot of people had drink envy when this was bought to our table.
Iced Coffee

Great iced coffee! Hit the spot and looked lovely.
Ham & Cheese Croissant

Chicken baguette

Great flavour and very peppery. Heaps of avocado. I really enjoyed it.
There is also a store as part of Chinta with lots of quirky pieces.
Spotting goldfish.

We enjoyed our lunch. It was very busy and there are only a few tables available inside plus a few along the front. There are highchairs but I wouldn't take a pram along and it is on busy Scarborough Beach Road. A great spot to stop on your way to the beach or with older children. It has a funky fitout with a great atmosphere and service was friendly. There are toilets out the back area.

251 Scarborough Beach Road in Doubleview and open 7 days a week.
