New Years Celebrations with kids

With 4 kids aged 5 and under I'm really not up for dragging them around the city way past their bedtime so thought we could have a bit of a party here!

I thought during the day we could draw pictures of what we liked doing during 2012, memorable moments. Also, I might print some pictures from birthday parties and outings we went on during the year and write the kids memories from those times on the back (or below  scrapbook style if I get really creative!)
Make a 2012 time capsule. Put in a favourite drawing, picture, saying or stories from the year which you can open and read before 2014 comes in.

Time to head along to the $2 shop! Blowers, glowsticks, party hats and plastic champagne glasses so we can party like we are 5 years old! Dress up in your finery, crack open the sparkling water and do your own count down! Just adjust the clock so you can do the countdown before bed. Hang up a 'Happy New Year' Banner and eat cocktail sized food. Biscuits cut out as the numbers 2, 0, 1 & 3, vegies and dips, fruit skewers, chipolatas, mini pizzas.

Get out the chalkboard & write down new years resolutions or a large sheet of paper to stick pictures of what they would like to do in the next year from the common (zoo, park, an icecream at the beach) to the dreams (Disneyland, go on a plane, a special toy).

Think of a goal they can do to help others in the next year too. Play with the new kids that might join their class during the year, donate some pocket money to a charity of their choice, particpate in an event like Clean Up Australia Day or one of the charity walks/runs.

If all else fails and they are early rises why not celebrate the start of the new year with watching the sunrise? Pack a picnic breakfast the night before & head to Kings Park to watch the sunrise over the city. In this heat lately much nicer being out early in the day!

What ever you do I'm sure the kids will have lots of fun! Thanks for being a part of Out & About in Perth with Kids for 2012 xx
